Can We Reach Two Billion People Seeking Enlightenment?
A Desperate Search for Truth
About 2,600 years ago, a man named Siddhartha left his home and family forever and went searching for truth.
He was deeply troubled about suffering, pain, and death in the world. He wanted an explanation or a sign there was hope for the next life.
For the next 50+ years, he wandered, meditated, and prayed. He eventually claimed to find a secret pathway to achieve eternal enlightenment, or nirvana— a state of unification with the universe and complete nonexistence.
When Siddhartha died, his followers worshipped and revered him. His teachings form the Buddhist faith today.
The Buddhist idea of nirvana is inspired by Hindu teachings and the Buddha's belief that a person can escape reality and achieve non-existence.
An Escape from Eternity
Nearly one billion people subscribe to Buddhism. Another 1.2 billion practice Hinduism, from which Buddhism comes. Think of it: two billion people seek a form of nirvana! To no longer exist. To just absorb into the “cosmic soup” of the universe.
To them, eternal life is a curse, not a gift, and they want to escape it. The Buddha and many Buddhist or Hindu teachers after him have failed to agree meaning of life, or the right way to eternal peace. Only Jesus Christ stated, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” (John 14:6)
Light for the Lost is passionate about helping Buddhist and Hindu people come to an understanding about who Jesus is, what His teachings are, and how to follow Him. But it is very difficult spiritual soil to till.

Pointing to Jesus, the Way
That’s why we need your help to resource missionaries in the Buddhist-Hindu world with evangelism resources that directly dismantle the false teachings of these faith systems. This year, we are asking God for MORE opportunities to reach people with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
He is answering that prayer through the Buddhist-Hindu Priority (BHP), an initiative of Assemblies of God World Missions to skillfully and patiently communicate the story of Jesus in these difficult contexts. In the next few months, LFTL will provide more information about Buddhist-Hindu world evangelism.
But this month, I want to give you an opportunity to invest directly in the BHP.
Buddhists and Hindus everywhere are interested to know more about Jesus. These young people in Southern Asia are new believers!
Adding Action to Faith
We believe it's possible to reach Buddhists and Hindus in large numbers. All we need to do is be obedient and faithful to what Jesus is telling us. LFTL has committed to raising a significant sum to assist missionaries with BHP evangelism resources in numerous languages. We need your help in order to fulfill that commitment. We are stepping out in faith. Will you help us?
Click here to make an online contribution to BHP. In the "Comments" box, type "BHP." We will apply it to missionary evangelism resource requests in these areas. Thank you for having a compassionate heart for Buddhist and Hindu peoples.
Just over two billion of them stand before us. Each one of them is precious to God. Therefore, they are precious to us!
